Wonder what that is? You would know if you came to the lecture by Gene Powell of Spoke last week. One of these mysterious tiles were found in Toledo back in the mid 90s by Gene and a friend of his. He submitted the finding to a website and if you search his name along with Toynbee tiles you can still find his digital mark.
Ephemeral the internet is not.
But Gene talked about so much more than just the Toynbee tiles. Now I want to hear from you. What did you think of all that Gene had to say? Leave your feedback in the comments.

Very informative, my only wish would be that he would have showed his work! -[K]
Gene was filled with useful info and interesting stories. It was awesome!
I always get a kick out of Gene's lectures and his pation for design. I agree with Kristen, I would have loved to see some of his work but look forward to his website as well as a blog in the near future. K.Smiley
I tried to say passion...Sorry Holly
I feel that rule number eight is the most inportant one discussed. So often I miss those tiny little details that are too obvious.
I enjoy the way the presentation was composed. I had a nice hook that tied everything together.
Where I get caught up, in any area of design, is the part about design not being pretty. There are times I forget the creative objective and completely trample the design process. Though, now that I am free and a freelancer, developing a design habit will come naturally and blemishes will soon fade.

Kristen—Gene was there to talk to all of you, not to necessarily promote his work. But, here is an example of a collaborative piece Gene worked on a couple of months ago for the AIGA Toledo Design Charrette. Kitchen for the Poor"
RenĂ©—I agree.
Kathy—Don't forget, "Design is important. Writing is importanter."
Will—Your comment is the epitome of irony. :)
